Fun Easter Weekend!

We had the most fun-filled Easter weekend!  Since Brooke was off for Good Friday, we let the kids stay up late(r) on Thursday evening and they got to play with our neighbor, Dillan, from across the street. The kids had fun riding their bikes, riding the scooter, and playing basketball.

Friday evening, we got all dressed up and ready for the Cross Service at our church.  The service started at 7 and we were there around 6:45 and that's when all the whining started.  The kids were soooo hungry and that was about the time when we eat dinner so we decided to pick up dinner and head back home to watch the service online.  It was a wonderful service and we made the right decision as we were all able to watch and enjoy the true message of Easter.

Saturday, Chloe and Noah came over and we had an Easter decorating party!  We made and decorated Easter cookies and then decorated over 4 dozen Easter eggs!  The kids had a lot of fun!  Then, that afternoon, Brooke went over to Cassandra's house to play!

Sunday, we went to church for the Easter service. Brooke came with us and Brody went to the Kids area where they had a petting zoo!  He loved it!  The message was awesome!  Our pastor talked about the 39 hours between the time that Christ was crucified on the cross to the time of His ressurection! After church, we went to Jason and Julie's house and Jason cooked an amazing meal!!  He is such a good cook!  Wow!  The kids had an Easter egg hunt and Jason and Julie put money in some of the eggs so the kids really loved that!

Art Show

So tonight, we attended the GCISD Art Show!  Several weeks ago, we were informed that Brooke's art work was selected for display!  We only knew that the title of the piece was called, "Winter Bird House", but I knew nothing else, so needless to say, I was so eager to see her actual art work and boy, was I surprised!  It was so good!!  I was so proud of her!  There were so many amazing pieces of work from many students in the Grapevine Colleyville School District, ranging from 1st through High School.  It was so neat to see all the cool things that all these students did!  I was totally impressed!

Mrs. May is Brooke's art teacher and she is so cute!  I had to get a pic of Brooke and Mrs. May together because Brooke loves her art teacher and her art teacher had some kind words to say about our little Brooke.  She says that Brooke has a natural talent, thinks outside the box, and pays close attention to details!  It makes my heart so happy because I have no idea where this comes from.  I am by no means an artist or an even was really interested in art, but now I am, because I may have a little budding artist on my hands!

My 4 Year Old's Weekly Schedule

So every Monday, Brody takes a swim class at 10:30.  Because we missed a class during Spring Break, makeup classes are offered at certain times for $5.  Today, we took a double swim class and went at 12:15 and now Brody wants to swim twice every Monday!  He loves swimming so much!  I originally enrolled him to help with his asthma.  I hear that swimming helps strengthen the lungs and someone once told me that when Brody is having an asthma attack, tell him to hold his breath! What??  He can't breathe and now I need to tell him to hold his breath?!?  Well, Blake can hold his breath for a LONG time so if swimming helps with that and helps with his asthma, than I am all for it!

So now, Brody will do swimming twice on Mondays, with a break for lunch at Chick Fil A.  Tuesdays are school.  Wednesdays are t-ball practice.  Thursdays are school and then karate.  Fridays are karate.  Saturdays are t-ball games and Sunday is church!

Brooke's 7th Birthday Celebration!

We celebrated Brooke's 7th Birthday last night at Sunbelt Gymnastics with a Glow-In-The-Dark Party!  Brooke said it was the best party ever and everyone seemed to have had a great time too!

All of her friends were there!  Total of 16 kids plus the birthday girl!

It all started with an hour of fun activites with the group being split into 2.  Fun obstacle course and games for all.  Then, they all came upstairs for pizza and cookie cakes.  We ordered 7 pizzas and 2 cookie cakes.  The kids gobbled up all the cake! I originally intended to 1 cake to be for the kids and 1 for the adults!  After that, the real fun began!  The party hostesses passed out glow necklaces and all the kids went back downstairs to the main gym area and the DJ started playing music and the lights went out!  By the time it was all over, everyone was drenched in sweat!  So thankful and grateful and humbled by another wonderful year with our sweet Brooke filled with good health, safety, and wonderful memories!

Spring Break in Fredericksburg, Texas!

Tuesday, March 11, 2013

We literally JUST got home from a 3 night/4 day trip to Fredericksburg.  I did unpack some bags and start a load of laundry, but I wanted to make sure that I documented everything about our wonderful trip!!  We had a blast!!!!

The trip was actually planned many weeks ago, but as we got closer to the actual day of leaving, there was still a chance of rain all weekend so we debated up until the last minute whether or not we would still go.  Needless to say, we decided to go and I am SO glad that we did!

We left the house around 2 pm on Friday, went to pick up Brooke from school, stopped by Market Street for a couple of things, and we were off...on a 5 hour journey to Fredericksburg!  Our Volvo was packed!  The Silliman's offered to take Brody's bike and scooter since we didn't have any room in our SUV.  I packed everything you could imagine for a camping trip!  From towels to linens to hand sanitizer to clorox wipes to paper towels!

We took the scenic route through the hill country and let me just say, it was GORGEOUS!!!  Wow!  Breathtaking!  The scenary was just amazing!  The kids whined and moaned practically the entire time and we finally drove up to Jellystone Park around 7:30.

Our cabin was not what I expected at all!  It was so nice!!  So clean with granite countertops, wood floors, full size fridge, dishwasher, and 2 flat screen tv's with free wi-fi!  This was my first camping trip and it fully exceeded my expectations!

The first night, we met the rest of the group by the Havens RV and all sat around a fire.  It was freezing!!!  The kids and I left around 10 pm and went back to the cabin.  Blake stayed and hung out till around midnight.

The next morning, the kids and Blake went exploring the camp site and found a lot of fun stuff for the kids to do!  Around lunchtime, we went to Main Street and ate at a restaurant called Auslanders.  Auslanders is the German word for tourists/foreigners.  The food was o-kay.  Tried some sauerkraut since I am not a picky eater and I have it say...it was not tasty!!!  Blake said it smelled like feet and it did!  After lunch, the kids wanted to go back to the cabin to play and I laid down for a nap.  Later, I did a little shopping with the ladies.  That evening, we drove about an hour to a city called Driftwood to have dinner at a BBQ place called SaltLick.  Very cool atmosphere!  Pretty neat!
The highlight of the trip came that evening.  We got home around 10ish.  It was starting to rain cats and dogs.  I got the kids to bed and several hours later, I woke to Brody crying.  He fell out of the bed!  Blake was holding him.  I rubbed the sides of his head to feel for bumps...nothing.  We put Brody back to bed.  The next morning, we wake up to a pool full of blood on Brody's pillow!  Needless to say, I'm freaking out!  I finally locate the gash on the TOP of his head and flip out some more.  Blake went to Walmart to get some Neosporin and after treating it, we continued with our day...hiking at Enchanted Rock!  WOW!!!! What a wonderful experience!  Beautiful!  Gorgeous!  Breathtaking!  So much fun hiking through ridiculously dangerous rocks, HUGE rocks.  Can't believe we are all still alive!  Thank you Lord!  Definitely the highlight of our trip!  That day was also Brooke's 7th Birthday!  My little girl turned 7!  I can't believe it!  We celebrated in our cabin with cupcakes, crafts, balloons, bubbles, and popcorn for all the girls!  It was so fun and memorable!
That night we had a fun little bonfire and ate sliders for dinner, courtesy of the Silliman's!  The kids had soooo much fun on this trip!  We can't wait to go back!

Another tooth gone!

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Brody is 2.5 weeks shy of his 5th Birthday and he lost his 4th tooth yesterday!  It was one of his top front teeth.  It's been loose for awhile now, but last night, as I was flossing his teeth, I jokingly tied the floss around the tooth and asked Brody if he wanted me to pull it and he said yes so I tugged a little and LOW AND BEHOLD.....it just came out!  No blood!  I was surprised that I just did that, but Brody was on cloud 9!  Happy as a clam and so proud!  Now, he can't say his s's very good.  So cute!

Our little ballerina!

I think these lessons are starting to pay off! ;)
